Paribhasha – Part 7 – MARANA

Marana” - “MRINJ” with a meaning “HIMSAYANA” i.e. to kill. “Maaryate, Nashyate Bhasmikriyate Iti” In Rasashastra this word has been used to denote the process by which the hard matters like metals and minerals are converted into Bhasma. Levigation of metals and minerals with liquid extracts of medicinal herbs and later their exposure to heat is called as process of calcination i.e. Marana. Shodheta loha &other dhatus are massarated with swarasa quata etc to that combination agni is given &make it into bhasma this process is kown as MARANA
