The origins of the Sikh faith began in Amritsar, Punjab, India, with the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, who unified the beliefs of Brahmanism, Hinduism, and Islam, thus forming the Sikh religion. As Sikhs migrated, the stream of faith spread to various lands, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and Thailand, where Sikhs can be found in the Pahurat area. The first Sikhs arrived during the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). They engaged in trading, a traditional Indian skill, and selling cloth was a popular route for Sikhs. This led to the image of Pahurat as a cloth trading center run by Indians. But little did they know that their way of life was not only tied to cloth, but also to the surrounding area, particularly the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha (Sikh Temple), a significant religious site that serves as a spiritual center for Sikhs.
