Riaperta la BASILICA DI NORCIA, il vescovo: "Benedetto continua a parlare al mondo"

"Benedict has found his home again and continues to speak to us and the world, teaching us a different way of building society and looking to the common good," rejoices Monsignor Renato Boccardo, Bishop of the Diocese of Spoleto-Norcia, on the occasion of the reopening of the Basilica of San Benedetto. It is completely restored, exactly nine years after the magnitude 6.5 earthquake that struck central Italy on October 30, 2016, shattering the town's spiritual and identity symbol. "Nine years ago, there were stones scattered all over the square," he recalls, "in addition to the disoriented and frightened people. Today, those same stones are stacked one on top of the other and restoring the original beauty of this place that belongs to everyone, not just Norcia."
