Dampf am alten Hauenstein – Mit dem Elefanten «C 5/6 2978» über das Läufelfingerli | SwissRails

On May 3 and 4, 2025, the "Steam at the Old Hauenstein" journeys were organized by SBB Historic and the C 5/6 2978 "Elephant." During this weekend, the steam train, consisting of three lightweight steel carriages from the 1950s, crossed the Läufelfingerli eight times in total. The freight steam locomotive C 5/6 2978, also known as the "Elephant," was built in 1917 by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works. It was the last standard gauge steam locomotive acquired by the SBB.
