He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of photography and is often referred to as the "father of modern photojournalism." Cartier-Bresson began his career as a painter, but soon turned to photography as his medium of choice. He is best known for his candid and spontaneous images of everyday life, which he captured with his camera on the streets of Paris and other cities around the world. His style was characterized by his use of the "decisive moment" - that fleeting instant when all the elements of a scene come together in a perfect composition. He was a master of composition and geometry, and his images are known for their balance and elegance.
