Only the Isetta remained a curiosity of automotive history, while the Zlatoust idea for a giant diver's watch has unexpectedly survived to this day. In this video, we compare five Agat and Katran models—60, 53, 46, 44, and 41 mm. From versions that are as close to the original watches as possible to modern watches suitable for everyday urban environments, we'll explore how an entire line of watches evolved from a rugged diving instrument, and where the line between authenticity and adaptation to modern life lies in this process. The video isn't just about size. It's about how a rugged diving instrument struggles to survive in the modern watch world without losing its identity. In some places, Zlatoust watches still feel like direct descendants of the 1950s diving instrument, while in others, they're already becoming independent civilian watches with a strong Ural character. And also, why the monocoque case is so difficult to produce and why the lack of a caseback in the 1950s wasn't a design quirk, but an engineering necessity.
