Smit International Vessel, 'Smit Don' Training Helicopter Crew Outside Holyhead Port, North Wales

This is Smit Don, a Smit International ship, with a remit of training aircrew for the MOD; filmed training helicopter crews in Holyhead Port last week. We were out on the breakwater filming another ship, when we spotted her out. We see the Smit Don (and its sister ship Smit Yare) out doing military training regularly, but this is one of the few times we've been able to get it on camera, since they usually train further out to sea than our cameras will allow for. They honked at us, which was unexpected and pretty cool. The helicopter, from RAF Valley's 'Defence Helicopter Flying School', is one of a few Jupiter HT1 and Juno HT1 helicopters on the Isle of Anglesey base. All are part of 202 squadron, which delivers 'maritime, mountain, and search and rescue training to helicopter aircrew'.
