I never expected it to be this good (Bull Trout Fly Fishing)

Join my brother and I on a trip of a lifetime chasing super rare Bull trout. We backpacked 4 days and hiked over 25mi in a hot canyon for these unicorns. We had some luck and learned a ton. So we took it easy, set up camp and ate some dinner. When things started to cool down later in the evening, we set out to see what we could find. When you’re doing research on something you’ve never done, you kind of paint a picture in your head on how things should go. On paper I knew what kind of flies to use, how to present and in what kind of water. But until that moment you actually get one, you never really know. That mental picture was coming into focus now that I’ve caught my first Bull. So we went to bed hopeful looking forward to a new day of fishing after a good nights rest. Today was forecast to be one of the hottest days of the trip, so we wanted to get an early start. With the flip of a coin we made to decision to go upstream. A decision that turned out to be the best thing we did all week. I can only describe that hole we found as the best fishing of my life. That’s no exaggeration. It had lots of big fish in a small hole. It was incredible. At this point we foolishly started to think we had things figured out, but this is still fishing and anytime you start to learn some things, new curveballs are right there to keep you humble.
