Will definitely Visit Again A Little History; Mainsgill Farm Shop, located near Richmond in North Yorkshire, began in 1995 when Andrew and Maria Henshaw purchased the 57-acre farm. Facing tough farming conditions, they started selling their home-reared meat door-to-door in 1997. Following steady growth, they opened a converted garage in 1998 before establishing their purpose-built farm shop in June 2001. Over the years, the family-run business has expanded significantly from its humble beginnings: 2001: The original purpose-built farm shop officially opened in June, featuring a butchery counter to meet high demand for home-reared meat. 2009: Their award-winning sausages were featured on television by The Hairy Bikers. 2013: A new road junction was installed to improve traffic safety and accommodate an increasing number of visitors. 2014: The estate farmed over 600 acres with hundreds of cattle and breeding ewes. 2020: A major two-story extension was built, expanding the food hall downstairs and adding space for gifts and clothing upstairs. Today, it operates as one of the largest and most well-known farm shops in Yorkshire, featuring a tearoom, a butchery with zero food-mile meats, a doggy pick-and-mix, and extensive country clothing and homeware departments.
