Americans Keep Trying to "Fix" Football When Nobody Asked Them To.

I'm sorry, but we've got to stop letting Americans talk about football (I'm joking btw!). So the World Cup is in America this summer, and since the start of the tournament, (some) Americans have gone out of their way to tell US why THEY think the game is "boring", and why it's an inferior sport to the sports that they play. Instead of falling in love with the sport, they've decided that they want to try and "fix" it because they know better. This mindset, this belief that they do things better simply because they are American, has been indoctrinated into them from a young age, and it now affects their ability to critically engage with things that don't centre them as the main characters. So not only do I want to talk about why they don't understand football, but I also want to talk about how American Exceptionalism has robbed them of understanding the beautiful game. So today we're going to talk about it. All this and more, on this week's episode of 'Small Talk'.
