This 400-Year-Old Tower in Malta Has Secrets Underground

Please comment and share it really helps the channel and video !! Thank you to Mark and all at Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna for the kind welcome. [email protected] I was invited to Marsaskala to explore one of Malta’s most impressive historic landmarks — St Thomas Tower, the largest watchtower on the island! Built in 1614 as part of the famous Wignacourt towers, this powerful coastal fortress once protected Malta from pirate raids and enemy landings. Sitting high above St Thomas Bay, the tower guarded the anchorages of Marsaskala Creek and the surrounding coastline. Today the tower has been beautifully restored and now houses the Pirates and Corsairs Museum — bringing Malta’s dramatic maritime history to life with fascinating exhibits and stories of pirates, corsairs, and naval battles. During the visit, Mark (who you might remember from our previous video at the Saluting Battery in Valletta) shows us around the tower — and we even discover some secret underground passages in the basement! If you enjoy Maltese history, hidden places, and exploring fascinating locations around the island, come along and take a look inside this incredible fortress.
