Warner's Northney Holiday Camp 1960 on Hayling Island
Warner's established their first holiday camp on farmland on Hayling Island in 1931, with an old barn converted into a dining hall. About a hundred wooden Chalets were built on the site, and as shown here, relatively simple leisure facilities were present in 1960 (swings, pools, slides, and probably the original 1930s chalets remained). The facilities were expanded considerably in the mid 1960s, although the site was closed in 1981. Houses and a public open space now occupy the land. (thanks to trainsandstuff, on Flickr for this information). It is interesting to see how happy holiday makers were with so little at this time.
