Vltavská filharmonie za 11,65 miliardy: Předražený luxus, nebo zlatý důl pro Prahu?
Does Prague need a new headquarters for the Philharmonic, when it does not have a completed circuit? How will the city find an astronomical amount in the budget for a classical music stand, when it otherwise spends every crown on it? And does the Philharmonic even make sense? We focused on everything important about this project in this video. A boost for the Vltava The place where the Vltava Philharmonic is to be located is not currently one of the most beautiful locations in Prague. But that is to change! The main flow of cars from the main road will be diverted into a tunnel and a quiet riverside promenade with cafes and other businesses will be created towards the river. The changes will also affect trams, which will travel in a different direction than today. And the Vltavská metro station itself will also see a well-deserved transformation – in addition to the new appearance of the lobby, the station will also see a new exit. From the river to the roof The very appearance of the new Philharmonic building was designed by the Danish architectural studio Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), which won a competition among 115 teams from 25 countries. The Philharmonic wants to build it in the spirit of the idea of “from the river to the roof” – the building will be as connected to its surroundings as possible and will be accessible throughout its entire exterior. In addition, there will be grassy areas and trees on the roofs, giving Prague an additional 2,500 m2 of greenery. Peak in sound And what will be inside the Vltavská Philharmonic building? The main “attraction” will, of course, be a concert hall for 1,800 listeners, which will meet the most demanding sound requirements. The acoustics will be taken care of by the top Japanese studio Nagata Acoustics, which is behind the best concert halls in the world. In addition, the main hall should have a wooden interior made of Šumava wood. And most of the spaces will be inspired by Czech craftsmanship. The Philharmonic will also offer a chamber hall for 550 listeners decorated with Czech sandstone, as well as a multifunctional hall with 500 seats, which will be inspired by industrial Holešovice and will be sheathed with steel gratings. The school hall will provide space for young musicians or educational programs for children, while the rehearsal hall will allow orchestras to rehearse on the same stage as the main hall. Space for creation The Vltava Philharmonic will also include a creative hub. It will offer spaces with the collections of the music department of the Municipal Library in Prague, a reading room, study rooms and facilities for listening to audio recordings. In addition, a fully equipped recording studio will be created here. The foyer will be accessible not only to concertgoers, but you will also find an information center, shops, cafes, etc. Part of it will also be reserved for various exhibitions. The roof terrace, in addition to a bistro or restaurant with amazing views, will also offer spaces for smaller concerts or film screenings. How do you like the planned Vltava Philharmonic?
