Today back in 1996 the late legendary sungura musician , Leonard Dembo passed on during this Independence Month. Although he was not a liberation fighter, the history of the quest for his country's Independence was also at his heart, hence the song in this video. Around 1982/3 he also released another song "Matsotsi" which he dedicated to the post-independence work of macomrades who dealt with robbers/muggers (matsotsi) who troubled ordinary Zimbos. May the iconic star's spirit continue to rest in eternal peace.
