Until the end of 2024, we had no choice but to believe that Spain recycled more than 80% of its packaging waste, as Ecoembes claimed. But then came the bombshell: the reality was that we weren't even reaching 42%. So, a two-year deadline was set to implement a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for packaging, and we are dangerously close to the deadline. When will we have a DRS implemented throughout Spain?
