Chichimequillas y el Camino Real: La Hacienda que Controlaba el Paso hacia Querétaro

🏚️ There was a hacienda in Querétaro that decided who survived and who died on the most dangerous road in New Spain, and almost no one knows its full story. 📜 In this video, I'll tell you the true story of the Hacienda de Chichimequillas, in the municipality of El Marqués, Querétaro, the exact spot where the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro forced every traveler, muleteer, or silver convoy to stop before continuing toward the capital. ⚔️ You'll understand why this route, which connected the mines of Zacatecas and Guanajuato with Mexico City, was the scene of the Chichimeca War, the longest conflict against Indigenous peoples in North American history, and how the Discalced Carmelites built an inn in the heart of the red earth that literally controlled the passage to Querétaro. 🏛️ I'll also tell you how this hacienda passed through the hands of a Mexican president, Mariano Arista, how an Asturian Spaniard named Remigio Noriega Lazo revived it after it nearly disappeared, the dams that were destroyed by lightning and flooding, and how the Amieva family keeps it producing to this day, more than three centuries after its founding. 🌾 This is the story of one of the few colonial haciendas in Mexico that UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site in 2010 as part of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (Royal Road of the Interior), and which continues to thrive, producing corn, sorghum, and milk, as if time itself flows differently there. 👍 If you enjoy the real history of Mexico, the part they didn't teach in full in school, like this video, subscribe to the channel, and let me know in the comments what other hacienda or colonial road you'd like us to cover in detail. #Chichimequillas #HaciendaChichimequillas #CaminoRealDeTierraAdentro #historyofmexico #queretaro #ElMarquesQueretaro #MexicanHaciendas #ChichimecaWar #DiscalcedCarmelites #NewSpain #ColonialHistory #worldheritagesite #unesco #SilverRoute #ColonialHaciendas #ViceroyalMexico #Mexicanhistory #historicaldocumentary #MarianoArista #MexicanBajio
