1. Evidence that God is within us 1 Corinthians 12:7, 8-10, 7 2. Gifts given for our benefit 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 11, 18, 8-10, 21, 25-26, 7, 25, 27-28 1 Corinthians 12:7 1 Brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be ignorant of spiritual gifts. 2 You know that when you were Gentiles, you were led astray to mute idols. 3 Therefore I tell you that no one who speaks by the Spirit of God will say, “Jesus is cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the Spirit is the same. 5 There are different kinds of ministry, but the Lord is the same. 6 There are different kinds of work, but God, who accomplishes all things in all people, is the same. 7 The manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the benefit of all. 8 To some, by the Spirit Through this, the word of wisdom, to one the word of knowledge by the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these things are done by the same one Spirit, who distributes them to each person as He wills. 12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so is Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all given one Spirit to drink. 14 For the body is not one member but many. 15 If the foot says, “I am not a hand, so it does not belong to the body,” it is not by this that it does not belong to the body. 16 If the ear says, “I am not an eye, so it does not belong to the body,” it is not by this that it does not belong to the body. For it is not so. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were a hearing place, where would the smell be? 18 But now God has placed the members in the body as He desired. 19 If all were one member, where would the body be? 20 Now the members are many, but the body is one. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor the head to the foot, “I have no need of you.” 22 Not only that, but the members of the body that seem weaker are actually in need. 23 We clothe the parts of the body that are less honorable with greater honor, and our unattractive members are given greater honor. Therefore, 24 our beautiful members do not need this. But God has arranged the body so that the lacking members may be given greater honor, 25 so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members are honored with it. You rejoice. 27 You are the body of Christ, and each of you is a part of it. 28 God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then those who work miracles, then those who have gifts of healing, helping, governing, and speaking in various tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all those who work miracles? 30 Are all those who have gifts of healing? Are all those who speak in tongues? Are all those who interpret? 31 But you desire the greater gifts. And I will show you the most excellent way.
