Pastila de istorie ep. 127, insigne și brelocuri de gardă

The units of the Romanian Army that received guard status in the 1930s were granted the right to use a series of special insignia. These insignia were created in the form of badges or key rings. In a number of cases, they were composed of the crowned royal figure, which bore the background color of the respective unit. In our case, we present to you today two such types of badges and key rings, made for the Guard Regiment "Mihai Viteazul", successor to the 6th Dorobanti Regiment "Mihai Viteazul", later called the 6th Infantry Regiment, and for the Guard Regiment of Horse, initially called the Royal Escort Regiment. For the Guard Regiment "Mihai Viteazul" the background color is yellow, and for the Guard Regiment of Horse the background color is black, both colors being their regimental colors. These badges and key rings were offered by the sovereign or the unit commander, either at his own discretion or on various special occasions, such as the sovereign's day or the regiment's day.
