Thutmose II: his historical significance, following the discovery of his tomb in Egypt in 2025
STOP PRESS 23 Feb 2025: Egyptologist now claims his team might be poised to find a 'second' tomb of Thutmose II nearby and that he might still be in it - https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvg... However: if that turns out to be true there will be a lot of explaining to do about the existing body identified as Thutmose II's. Unfortunately, Egyptology is prone to extravagant and exciting claims which usually lead nowhere. And even if there is a second tomb, and even if there is a body in it, it might be a challenge to prove whose it is. This video is an over-view of the life of Thutmose II (c. 1492-1479 BC), fourth pharaoh of Egypt's 18th Dynasty, husband and half-brother of Hatshepsut ( • Hatshepsut Maatkare - Queen and King of Eg... ), and his place in history, following the discovery of his tomb in a remote wadi in Western Thebes, Egypt. PLEASE DON'T ASK FOR SUBTITLES! It seems like a simple request but in fact it's a very laborious process that takes much longer than making the video! A full transcript has to be made, uploaded, and then manually synchronized to the video. This is fantastically time-consuming. The channel may be monetized, but the amounts involved are tiny. I'm very busy - the videos are made as a sort of public service. If I had to do subtitles as well, there simply wouldn't be any videos: I'd stop making them. Thanks for your understanding. This is Version 2 - I made a ghastly error in Version 1 (thanks to a viewer who pointed this out) so I've redone the whole thing. Thanks and aplogies if you watched V1.
