The New Classic Superman | SUPERMAN (2025) MOVIE REACTION | FIRST TIME WATCHING

With Supergirl 2026 flying into theaters today! I figured now would be the best time to watch the first official installment in James Gunn's takeover of the DCEU. Directed and written by James Gunn(Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker), Starring David Corenswet (Hollywood, Pearl, The Politician) stepping into the iconic role of Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, House of Cards, The Courier) as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult (The Menu, Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class) as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle, The Rookie) as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced (Last of Us, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Rosaline) as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class, The Harder They Fall, StartUp) as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan (Barry, Gotham, Bill & Ted Face the Music) as Metamorpho, and María Gabriela de Faría (Deadly Class, Yo Soy Franky, The Moodys) as The Engineer. David Corenswet as Superman might have just become my favorite live action iteration of the character! This Superman was the embodiment of hope and optimism! exactly how wonder bread is supposed to be when the remaining team is gathered. This movie freakin' rocks! James Gunn brought so much heart to this Superman story. As a comic book fan I was geeking out when I saw how similar in tone this was to some of my favorite comic runs. That Mister Terrific's scene was phenomenal! Krypto was adorable even though he wasn't the best of doggos! Lex Luthor was played by Nicholas Hoult was fantastic! Staying true to the classic villain yet adding some nuance and very much appreciated layers to the performance. Ultraman and the Engineer were menacing and the action sequences when they were fighting Superman were exhilarating. And man...that ending almost got me. So much heart and incredibly touching. I am beyond excited to see what's next for this universe!
