This ASMR Eating video is dedicated to wishing you all an upcoming Happy Mid-Autumn Festival on September 24th!! 中秋节快乐!! Is it a festival? Is it a holiday? Are these still mooncakes if they don’t have moons (salted egg yolk) inside?? I’ll just shutup and eat. These are not the mooncakes I grew up eating, which were baked and heavy with plain white lotus paste or dates and whole yolks inside. A couple of years ago I was filming a show in Vietnam and discovered their mooncakes with insane fillings! Some had 15-20 fillings—anything from bacon, shrimp, sweet lotus paste, dates, water chestnuts, etc all in the SAME mooncake! It blew my mind! Let me know if you want to see a baked version! That was also the year I finally got to try snowskin mooncakes as well! They were gifted to me from Raffles in Singapore and they were amazingly light and delicate-- champagne white truffle. Drool. And now… these are not from Raffles, but are one of the only shops making snowskin mooncakes in NYC. Happy I can get them at all.
