MoneyOwl Webinar: Retirement Income Dilemmas

Many Singaporeans see CPF LIFE as a safe foundation for retirement income. But at age 55, an important decision remains: how much should you set aside in your CPF Retirement Account? How much should you allocate to commercial instruments such as high dividend-paying funds and investment-linked policies (ILPs)? These products appear to offer more attractive features, including immediate “passive income” of 7% or 8% per annum, the potential for capital growth to beat inflation, and in the case of some ILPs, a death benefit floored at premiums paid. But the headline features need to be weighed against risks, costs and payout sustainability. In this webinar, MoneyOwl's CEO and Chief Investment Officer Chuin Ting Weber, examined and compared the structures of dividend stocks, high dividend-paying funds, ILPs and CPF LIFE. She explained: How investing through market volatility is very different in accumulation versus decumulation, and the trade-offs between returns and payout sustainability. How you can build a resilient retirement income system that combines CPF LIFE with suitable commercial instruments. The webinar concluded with a live Q&A session, where CPF Board's Group Director - Retirement Income Gregory Chia, joined Chuin Ting in answering participants’ questions on retirement planning and CPF LIFE. Editor's Note: Chuin Ting's sharing has been re-recorded to address technical issues and improve the viewing experience.
