BW 72 - The Mysterious Type 1030C – Britain’s Forgotten Nuclear Detector

Welcome to another Bunker Wednesday! This week we’re taking a look at a fascinating and very rare piece of British Cold War history, the Gamma Radiation Monitor Type 1030C. Manufactured by British Physical Laboratories, this unusual instrument was designed to measure dangerous levels of gamma radiation and is believed to date from the early Cold War period. In this video we’ll be taking a first look at the monitor, with a much more in-depth video planned in the near future where we’ll carefully examine the instrument and explore its internal components.
