Atsushi Nakajima, author of "Sangetsuki" (The Moon Over the Mountain), worked as a Japanese language teacher at Yokohama Gakuen for eight years, from 1933 to 1941. Its unique style comes from the variable cross-section of its arch. Structurally, it's a two-hinged arch with hinges at both ends, and since the truss-structured stiffening girder on top is continuous, it can be described as an upper-deck network arch bridge (Roese bridge). It's also a 70-degree skew bridge.
