𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘 𝗜𝗧 𝗢𝗥 𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘 𝗜𝗧:Officials Enforce Property Rules During Venice Homeless Cleanup

VENICE, Calif. — Friday, July 17, 2026 — City crews conducted a coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation Friday morning in and around the Venice Beach Boardwalk following the posting of a Notice of Major Cleaning earlier in the week directing individuals to remove personal property from designated public areas before sanitation work began. The notice advised that sidewalks, recreational areas, and surrounding public spaces would undergo scheduled cleaning and maintenance, with property remaining after the posted deadline subject to removal in accordance with city regulations. The operation involved Park Ranger Security Services personnel, the Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Environmental Compliance Inspectors (ECI), Los Angeles County Beaches and Harbors, and Clean Harbors Environmental Services. During the operation, Environmental Compliance Inspectors contacted several individuals camping along Venice Beach and the surrounding public areas and advised them to gather their belongings and relocate so sanitation crews could begin their work. In accordance with Los Angeles Municipal Code §56.11, inspectors provided 60-gallon bags and explained that individuals may retain up to 60 gallons of personal property during scheduled cleanups. The individuals complied, gathered their belongings, and left the area, allowing sanitation crews to proceed with the scheduled cleanup. Elsewhere, Department of Public Works crews removed accumulated trash and bulky debris, while Clean Harbors Environmental Services personnel collected and disposed of hazardous materials identified during the cleanup. Park Ranger Security Services personnel remained on scene throughout the operation to monitor activity and help maintain public access. Venice Beach undergoes regularly scheduled maintenance and sanitation operations throughout the year. Notices are typically posted at least 48 hours in advance to provide individuals time to remove personal belongings before cleanup activities begin. The operation was part of the City's ongoing effort to protect public health, improve sanitation, and keep Venice Beach's sidewalks, recreational facilities, and public spaces accessible to residents and visitors. No citations or arrests were observed during the operation.
