The Parrot Crisis | Adopting A Yellow-Collared Macaw | Mini Macaw Love

Hi guys! Today's video is on Mac, our 15ish year old Yellow-Collared Macaw that we adopted in September. He was surrendered to our parrot rescue and is doing really well with us. There is and has always been a parrot CRISIS going on in the pet trade world. It happens with ALL animals when people buy them and then give them away when it doesn't work out. The difference with parrots though is that they live SO LONG and the percentage of birds passed from home to home is over 75%!!! The ones that are not given away, are most likely kept in improper, unhealthy conditions for 10,20,30 years or more. Please don't be the next person to give your bird up!!! Do not buy or adopt a bird if you cannot commit 100% for the entire life span of the parrot. Research and know everything you can about the species FIRST! Please consider donating to Texas Parrot Rescue to help provide for these parrots. And for the love of animals....DO NOT release your bird or animal out into the wild!!
