This Sonic Popcorn Machine Has a Guinness World Record
SegaSonic Popcorn Shop (1993) is a strange entry in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. it's a coin-operated popcorn vending machine with a real arcade game built inside it. And yes, it holds an official Guinness World Record. This is Episode 10 of the Sonic Retrospective Series, covering every Sonic title in release order. In this retrospective we break down the hardware (Sega's System C-2 board, shared with Cosmo Fighter, Patrol Car and SegaSonic Bros), the 90-second mini-game, the SegaSonic branding origin story, the 2015 MAME ROM dump led by ShouTime and the Dumping Union, the Sonic Mania cameo in Studiopolis Zone, and the machine still running in Japan today.
