The Yellow Ranger figure was released, but nearly impossible to find. The Blizzard Force Megazord was recolored from its original pastel purple to bright red, yellow, green, and blue, I kinda found the new color scheme offensive. Brachiozord and Cephalazord were completely omitted. At the time, it felt like Bandai was ignoring what fans surely wanted, but looking back, it makes sense to me now. Here’s my theory: Bandai made decisions based on what their sales data told them. Historically, Power Rangers toys have appealed more to boys than girls, and as a result, "girl" figures like the Yellow Ranger were often produced in smaller quantities because they didn’t sell as well. The same logic likely applied to carrier Zords like Brachio and less prominent Zords, which didn’t resonate with their core audience. Meanwhile, the recoloring of the Blizzard Force Megazord to brighter, more vibrant hues may have been done to make the toy more appealing and marketable in the U.S. This wasn’t about neglecting fans, it was about making smart business choices that ensured the line’s overall success. While it’s frustrating from a collector’s perspective, Bandai was likely working to maximize the toyline’s viability in a competitive market. In this video, I compare my experiences from 2004 to now and explore how my understanding of the toy industry has changed over time. Let’s dive into why Bandai may have made these decisions and discuss how fan expectations often clash with business realities.
