The Evangelistic Spirit of Cardinal John Connie (Part 1) On April 25, 2026, Father Zhang Shaolin, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, delivered a lecture entitled "Listening to the Evangelistic Spirit of Cardinal John Connie—Taking the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Mission in Toronto as an Example" at the "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' 2026 Evangelistic Workshop" held at St. Ignatius Church in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Father Zhang's sharing was divided into four parts, evenly distributed between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM in the workshop. The first part, "The Evangelistic Spirit of Cardinal John Connie," introduced the historical background, mentioning that Connie was sent to China by the Pope to promote the first National Conference of the Church, consecrate the first batch of Chinese bishops, and strive to abolish the colonial-era "patronage of the Church," thus implementing the localization of the Church's hierarchical system.
