Exposição "Joice Saturnino: fazeres e saberes das artes da fibra" na EBA/UFMG em Belo Horizonte/MG🇧🇷

🇧🇷 The Main Gallery of the School of Fine Arts at UFMG – 1st floor (main entrance, opposite the gatehouse) presents, with free admission from June 2nd to 19th, 2026, the exhibition "Joice Saturnino: Practices and Knowledge of Fiber Arts". The exhibition focuses on the work of Joice Saturnino, artist, researcher, and retired professor from the School of Fine Arts at UFMG, and also includes educational workshops on the processes, techniques, and knowledge of fiber arts. The exhibition therefore honors the career of Joice Saturnino, born in Belo Horizonte in 1957, who was responsible for consolidating the Fiber Arts program within the Fine Arts course at the School of Fine Arts at UFMG. The exhibition brings together works, studies, and processes that highlight the relationship between art, matter, and ancestral knowledge. Fibers such as banana fiber and bamboo fiber appear as central elements in a poetics marked by observation of the territory, attention to landscapes, and appreciation of organic materials.
