l'INCROYABLE HISTOIRE d'un Héritier loin de chez lui.
Born in 1762 in Timbo, then the capital of a theocratic West African state, Abdoule Rahmane ibne Ibrahima Sori was the son of Almamy Sory Mawdo, a Fulani king who ruled over the nine provinces of Fouta Djallon. Sori was a prince, and a highly cultured one at that. He spoke four African languages in addition to Arabic and English. He studied at the prestigious University of Timbuktu, a city as legendary as it was royal. This university was founded by the famous and extremely wealthy Emperor Kankou Moussa in the early 14th century. At the age of 26, when he was captured and sold into slavery, Sori already held important religious and military positions. In 1778, the young prince was tasked with leading "an army of 2,000 men whose mission was to protect the coast and strengthen his economic interests in the region." It was during this military campaign that Prince Sori was captured and then sold to English slavers. After eight months of sailing in inhumane conditions, Sori arrived in the United States.
