We bought a 1991 Land Rover Discovery 200 TDI in the south of Spain for €3,500 and turned it into a simple, functional budget overlander for two people. No fancy parts, no massive budget — just a basic DIY build (around €200 in timber + materials) and a lot of learning along the way. In this episode, the real adventure begins: we drive through Europe to Morocco, living in the car, chasing waves, and dealing with the reality of old-4x4 travel… including the stuff that goes wrong when you try to overland on a budget.
