Aberystwyth to Carmarthen- The Train Line That No Longer Exists!
Step back in time with this rare footage capturing the scenic Aberystwyth to Carmarthen railway line during its final years of operation in the 1960s. Originally part of the Manchester and Milford Railway, this route was a vital link through rural west Wales. The line faced premature closure north of Strata Florida in December 1964 due to flood damage near Llanilar, with the remaining southern section ceasing passenger services in February 1965 as part of the Beeching cuts. Freight services continued until the early 1970s. #train #travel #aberystwyth #camarthen #beeching
