It is believed that Brahma resides in its roots, Vishnu in its trunk, and Shiva in its branches. Worship Method and Circumambulation: Women worship the Banyan tree, wrap a piece of raw cotton (Kalaava) around it, and circumambulate it seven or eleven times, praying for their husbands' long life. Rules of the fast: This fast is observed without water. On this day, women adorn themselves with sixteen adornments and wear new red or yellow clothes.
