HORSESHOE STEAK FLIPPER

My name is Tyler Shogren and I am a 17-year-old Blacksmith starting at the age of 13. On this channel, you will see the documentation of me and the cool projects and odd ideas that might come, great to have you join me on this journey! If you want to know what I am doing keep reading. Here I made a right-handed Steak Flipper from an old Horseshoe. I started by straightening one side out and tapering it down into a fine point reforming the other end to have a more ergonomic grip. Then I put one full clockwise twist into the body of the tool for aesthetics, straightening the Flipper on a woodblock with a wooden mallet to keep the twist as crisp as posable. For the tip of the Flipper, I let burn to make it as sharp as possible. To finish off the tool I gave it a nice brushing to remove the scale and a hot oil finish to give it a smooth backend look along with making it rust-resistant.
