Audrey Hepburn Changed Fashion Forever

Audrey Hepburn’s portrayal of the New York City, free-spirited party-girl, Holly Golightly, stole the hearts of fans. The dress, designed by French fashion designer, Givenchy, was one of many collaborations between the Hollywood starlet and the high fashion couturier. Blending Audrey’s simple and classic style with the elegance and luxury of Parisian fashion, the little black dress perfectly emulated the feel of upper-class Manhattan in the early 1960s. Despite her flaws, Holly Golightly becomes an on-screen iconic for fashion and style. Hepburn’s own personal style and personality penetrated into her many incredible and award-winning film roles over the years. If you have yet to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Roman Holiday, Sabrina, or Funny Face, now is the time. You’ll be surprised to find how much of today's classic styles can be traced back to Hepburn’s timeless looks: the little black dress, pink cocktail dresses, camel trench-coats, straight slacks and ballet flats, boxy neutral sweaters - it’s all Audrey! As an entirely new generation of fans can enjoy Hepburn’s films and fashion through new forms of media and streaming, we look back at the little black dress that changed the history of fashion and classic style forever.
