Hon’ble Justice V. Mohana Proceedings: Sugar Mill Case Listed in Supreme Court Hearing.

On 3 June 2026, before the Bench comprising Hon’ble Justice Vikram Nath and Hon’ble Justice V. Mohan, a plea was mentioned seeking urgent listing of an application for modification/vacation of an interim order affecting the functioning of a sugar factory. The petitioner submitted that preparations for the upcoming crushing season, commencing in October–November, required immediate steps such as procurement of machinery and utilisation of sanctioned loan facilities. It was argued that unless the interim order was modified or vacated, the factory’s readiness for the crushing season could be seriously affected. Opposing the request, the respondent submitted that the matter had already been mentioned earlier and was directed to be listed in July. It was further pointed out that the interim order had been passed after hearing senior counsel for both sides and that there was no substantial change in circumstances warranting urgent relisting. The Bench questioned what change in circumstance had arisen since the earlier listing.
