O Rangasayee Pilachithe/ Kamboji / Adi / Thyagaraja / Aditya Madhavan

Krithi: O Ranga sayee Pilachithe Ragam: Kambhoji Thalam: Adi Composer : Thyagaraja Vocal: Aditya Madhavan Aditya Madhavan is a talented Carnatic vocalist known for his deep-rooted classical training and expressive singing. Hailing from Mumbai, he began learning music at the age of four and went on to complete a rigorous seven-year foundational course at the Shanmukhananda Fine Arts institution. Alongside his musical pursuits, he studied Electronics Engineering at K.J. Somaiya College, balancing academics with his passion for Carnatic music. Now based in Chennai, Aditya continues his advanced training under the guidance of Smt. Radha Namboodiri, a respected veteran of the art form. He is a A- grade artist with All India Radio and has performed extensively across India, including during the prestigious Chennai Margazhi season. Aditya’s music is marked by classicism, creativity, and a strong adherence to tradition, making him a promising figure among the younger generation of Carnatic musicians. Violin: Vishwesh Swaminathan Mridangam: Palakkad Anirudhraj Ghadam: Vaikkom Sivashankar Morsing: Kalamandalam Harikrishnan Once, Thyagaraja swami visited Srirangam during the Chithirai Utsavam, he was blessed with the sight of Lord Ranganatha riding on his golden horse and later he had an opportunity of worshiping Ekanta Seva of the Lord in the temple sanctum. Deeply moved, he poured out his feelings in the krithi “O Rangasayi” in Kamboji raga, one of his greatest masterpieces. In this song, Thyagaraja calls out to the reclining Lord of Srirangam, wondering why the Lord does not respond when he cries out in anguish. He reminds the Lord that even Siva, attained greatness as the Lord of Kailasa only by beholding him. Declaring that Srirangam itself is Vaikuṇda on earth because of the Lord’s presence, Thyagaraja laments the pettiness and intolerance of worldly people that cause him suffering. Yet, he consoles himself in the radiant vision of the Lord’s divine form, adorned with pearl garlands, and finally affirms with devotion that the Lord is the true ornament of his heart. Pallavi O rangasayi pilachithe O yanuchu ra radha Anupallavi Saranga varudu juchi kailasadhipudu galeda Charanam Bhuloka vaikundam idiyani nilona nive yuppongi shri loludai yunthe ma chinthadire dennado melorva leni janulalo ne migula nogili divya rupamunu mutyala sarula yuramunu gana vachithi tyagaraja hrd-bhushana --------------------------------------------------------------------- Meaning: Oh Ranga Sayee(Lord Vishnu reclining in yogic sleep) Why don't you respond to my call and come to me saying 'oh' . Didn’t Lord Siva ( the holder of the deer) become the Lord of Kailasa by beholding You? Sriraṅgam is itself Vaikuṇda on earth, where you shine in splendor. If you remain here, delighting in Lakṣmi, tell me when will our worries end? I have suffered greatly among those who cannot bear the greatness of others. Therefore, I have come to behold your divine form and your chest adorned with pearl garlands. O Lord, You are the ornament of Thyagaraja’s heart. --------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: These songs have been uploaded solely for listening pleasure and as an archive to preserve Carnatic music.
