If asked what the most difficult period of my life was, I would immediately answer, "The month before high school and university entrance exams." My preparations were progressing steadily, but my mental health was at its worst. School was canceled, and I only went out for lessons. It's simply impossible for a human being to wake up, play piano, and sleep for several dozen days straight. My concentration was declining with each passing day, and I felt increasingly frustrated and angry at myself for not being able to push myself. What was most painful was the feeling that my performance in the next few days would determine my entire life, that my reputation would be completely determined, and I wanted to turn away from it. My performances became colorless and cramped, and I hated my own performances and my mood plummeted again. It was so hard. Seriously hard. But, no matter what anyone told me at the time, I couldn't believe it, and now I realize that exams are nothing more than a passing phase. Entrance exams are a major crossroads, and I used to think that each path leads to a different place. But I believe that if you have a strong desire for your destination, you can reach it no matter which path you choose. That's life. I wrote about my goals in a middle school essay, and although I failed the high school entrance exam, I'm starting to see a path to achieving them.
