These are statements that, upon closer examination, raise considerable doubts and hardly stand up to critical scrutiny. Why are we making these videos? Because there will always be people who are gullible and impressed by large numbers, success stories, and confidently presented claims. We've been familiar with these methods for quite some time. Anyone who works with spectacular figures knows exactly what effect this has on people. It becomes particularly problematic when religious credibility is used as a pretext for gaining trust: People appear in prayer, emphasize their Islamic identity, write books about Islam, or present themselves as especially pious—while simultaneously disseminating statements that raise serious doubts. If we get the impression that people are being deliberately influenced by impressive figures, arguments from authority, and religious symbolism, then we see it as our duty to openly address these contradictions and call for critical examination. In Islam, it is part of being sincere to warn against deception and to make people aware of potential misleading practices. That is precisely what this video is about.
