The Hunt for Vittorio Veneto: Battle of Cape Matapan, 1941 - Animated (1/2)

In late March 1941, with British convoys moving between Egypt and Greece and the wider Mediterranean campaign entering a dangerous new phase, the Italian navy put to sea from Taranto to strike Allied movements south of Crete. Admiral Angelo Iachino led a powerful force built around the battleship Vittorio Veneto, heavy cruisers, and destroyers, while Admiral Andrew Cunningham sortied from Alexandria with battleships, the carrier Formidable, cruisers, and destroyers to intercept before the Italians could disrupt British traffic in the eastern Mediterranean... It would turn into one of the greatest and most epic naval engagements of the Mediterranean War... Every video on House of History is manually animated, researched and written from scratch.
