Travel Photography: The Business and Career
Time to talk travel photography business. I'm on Instagram at / brendanvanson I think it's really important for me to talk about the business side of travel photography. Mostly for the reason that I really didn't have anyone around to help me with the money-making side of the industry when I started out. Thus, I think it's important for me to be a mentor for the travel photography business as much as I can. One of the problems with the industry of travel photography is how unwilling a lot of pro photographers are to help. It makes it hard on people, and to be honest I think it's a bit selfish. I should also mention that the travel photography business is going to be different for everyone. My business model is very different to that of many of my friends in the industry, and other pros I know. There are a lot of different ways to make money in this industry, so don't worry if your plan isn't the same as mine. You can make it work as long as you see yourself as a business rather than an employee of the industry. When it comes down to it, the business of travel photography is simple: make more money than you spend. I follow a form of income-generation I call the Income Octopus, which I find has been the most stable way of earning a consistant growth. What does your travel photography business look like.
