GM's own warranty department just told you which years of the 2.7 TurboMax are bulletproof, and they backed it with money: a longer powertrain warranty than its own V8s get. Every "worst engines" video that ranks this one skips the part that matters: which model year you're looking at. The 2019 through 2021 trucks had documented problems. GM fixed some of it in 2022, then found a manufacturing defect in the block on some 2023 trucks and opened a formal Customer Satisfaction Program in February 2024 to replace the entire engine, at no cost, on every affected truck.
