Using Objects to Teach Counting

Janet Houk | Minneha Elementary | Wichita, KS The teacher uses beans to demonstrate counting. As each bean is placed on the table, it is counted aloud. This shows the students the one to one relationship between the written number and the number of objects. Students can then work in small groups counting beans together.
