TAM 5500 je bil priljubljen gasilski avto

In Maribor a wide range of trucks and buses were manufactured at the enterprise TAM. Individual equipped variants were already offered at the factory. Among them were fire trucks. In the late sixties of the twentieth century, the factory-made firefighting truck TAM 5500 G was offered to the Yugoslav market, and after a few years the variant GD (4×4), which was well received throughout Yugoslavia. They were powered by simple, durable and reliable 6-cylinder air-cooled engines (Humboldt-Deutz license). As a rule, the trucks were in service for more than 30 years, and even now some can still be found. This time we drove two - 4×2 and 4×4 models, which are technically perfect, but "retired". The one from Radmirje still goes for intervention, when necessary, while the one from Mengeš has been restored and has the status of a vintage vehicle.
