A topic that's troubling some Mariupol residents today is the apartments of Mariupol residents who left the city (mostly in early 2022) and have yet to return. All of these people hold Ukrainian citizenship, but according to Russian law, property owners without Russian citizenship cannot register their homes (in this case, in Mariupol) with Rosreestr. This is a mandatory procedure, and the deadlines for doing so are limited. Therefore, Ukrainian citizens who left Mariupol in 2022 must urgently come to the city, obtain a Russian passport, and register their homes with Rosreestr. If they don't do this within the specified timeframe, their apartments will become unclaimed.
