I Got Access to One of China's Rarest Goldfish Farms

Three weeks ago, I traveled to Fuzhou, China, searching for one of the most famous ranchu goldfish farms in the country — Pan’s Ranchu Farm. Before this trip, I had heard many stories about this place. Some people said it produces some of the highest-quality ranchu in China. Others said it was not easy for ordinary visitors to get access or meet the breeder. I didn’t know what I would find. But this journey became much more than just a farm visit. During my trip, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Pan Guocheng, the founder of Pan’s Ranchu Farm, and spent more than three hours discussing ranchu breeding, selection standards, international export, and the future of this incredible goldfish variety. In this episode, you will see: • A behind-the-scenes look at one of China’s top ranchu breeding farms • How professional breeders select high-quality ranchu • The difference between a beautiful ranchu and a healthy ranchu • How thousands of fry are evaluated and filtered • My conversation with one of China’s most respected ranchu breeders Before leaving, I also selected several ranchu and fry from the farm, and I will continue documenting their growth on this channel. If you love ranchu goldfish, Chinese goldfish culture, and professional fish breeding, subscribe and follow this journey.
