"GROM Challenge – Strength and Honor" is a legendary obstacle course race, renowned in Poland and abroad, organized by former GROM soldiers at the former military training ground of Unit 2305 in Czerwony Bór. This is where sniper training, and later also the operators of this special unit, took place in the 1990s. During a grueling selection process, they were subjected to tests to assess their preparedness for combat missions. The center features a shooting range, a climbing tower, a hand-to-hand combat arena, a water area for practicing "blue tactics," and an agility course—all the elements used in daily special forces training. These elements become part of the approximately 25-kilometer course, filled with both terrain and man-made obstacles. Instructors—volunteers of the NIEZAPOMNIANI Foundation and former GROM soldiers—set challenges for participants and evaluate their performance. The obstacle configuration varies each year, and the details of the route remain unknown, just like during a real selection, with no concessions or shortcuts. This is not just a sporting competition, but also a tribute to the founder and first commander of the GROM Unit, Brigadier General Sławomir Petelicki (born on September 13th – the day the GROM Challenge was organized; the general died in 2012), and to the soldiers who died in action.
