The arrival of former Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa in Uruguay sparked controversy between the ruling party and the opposition. Correa governed Ecuador between 2007 and 2017 and was sentenced in 2020 to eight years in prison in Ecuador for the so-called Bribery Case. This led to questions from legislators of the Broad Front coalition upon his arrival in Uruguay about the party receiving someone they described as a "fugitive from justice." To discuss these accusations, the government of Daniel Noboa in Ecuador, and the regional and international situation, we spoke with Rafael Correa, former president of Ecuador.
