1979 Yamaha XS750SF Special - Are Vintage Bikes Relevant?

Yamaha introduced their first XS750 4-stroke 3-cylinder triple in late 1976, and ended their run of Triples with the XS850 for the 1981 model year. I bought my first XS750SF Special brand new in early 1980 as a 1979 model, and I bought the 1979 XS750SF you see here in 2009. A blast to ride - I'll discuss how well the bike does out on the open road when running at entertaining road speeds, and I'll show you a little of its ability to manage speed in corners on one of the most famous motorcycle roads in America - Lolo Pass on US-12. Can vintage Yamaha motorcycles be relevant today? Let's find out! This video shows my last ride for 2025 - a 23 minute cut from a ride that was over 2 hours in length. The end of the video includes some discussion about what's in store for this bike - such as upgrades, maintenance and a bit of a refresh. Want to see more? Give it a like. Have a question?
